I'm not that old, we still use CDs!

I don't think I really owned cassette tapes, other than my Lion King tape that I rocked out to when I was 8 and in the 2nd grade. :-) Honestly, my real first taste to music came on CDs... and my first CD was CrazySexyCool by TLC. Yes, I know I was a bad ass little kid ;)

Don't all Asians look the same? xD

In Japan, people told me I looked like Crystal Kay (half Korean half Black) and in America I've been told that Ruthie from Real World Hawaii looks like me, or at least my long lost older sister. Honestly both of these women are beautiful so I'm pretty honored by the comparison.

Life

What's going on...

My sister Marie is having a baby boy! I'm excited to have a nephew in December :)

Dad is recovering well from his surgery earlier this month. Yesterday was the last day the visiting nurses are coming out to my parents house and he will be visiting his surgeon on Monday. All is well and I'm so grateful for that.

I'm in the process of moving out of Boston. Don't know where I am headed afterwards but we'll see :-)

Byyyye!

Writer's Block: Investigations of a Female Nature

Who is your favorite lady detective from movies, books, or TV?

What kind of question is this? :-) Of course the answer is Nancy Drew! I used to eat through her books when I was in middle school!

Rotary phones should make a comeback

Wouldn't it funny if rotary phones made a comeback on cell phones? It's not really practical but I always have fun placing phone calls on it. It's like getting into the calling experience... pulling numbers one at a time!

My favorite room

My favorite room is my bedroom in my apartment in Jamaica Plain. Even though I live on a semi busy road, I love waking up to the morning sun. I painted it a creamy peach color so it really reflects the main colors I chose for my room which are oranges, reds and yellows. I love the hardwood floors and the character it has. Overall, it always feels zen like and quiet. I hesitate to do any sort of homework or busy work in it because I'll just immediately fall asleep in my bed. ^_^

My Hip-Hop Posse... Check it! ;)

Notorious B.I.G.
Because he was a sick lyricist and lived his life to the fullest until his death at 24. That means, making $$$, having a couple of kids, doing a couple drug deals, cheated on a bunch of women...man what a lifestyle!! I'm 21 and boring as all get out!

Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez
TLC's "Crazy Sexy Cool" was my first album, and Left Eye was always my favorite. I remember being 8 and rapping along to her solo in "Chasing Waterfalls"! Anyways, she was a little bad ass too... she burnt her ex boyfriend's mansion to the GROUND! Hell yes!!! Girl can rap AND defend herself... in the most extreme way of course but... LOL

Bone Thugz 'n' Harmony
Basically it'd be rounded up with these guys. They know how to rap, but also intertwine their music with melody and slow R&B at times. They're my favorite rap group, by far.

Take a picture of yourself right now.
Don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair... just take a picture.
Post that picture with NO editing.
Post these instructions with your picture.

(man i look exhausted... 2 hours of gym prior :O)

i think i'm going to start a fitness blog soon.
2008 was not a very good year for me as far as fitness and nutrition goes and so... i'm currently working on the womens abs diet by men's health & a women's health workout simultaneously. i'm trying to get back to my weight when i was 18... i think i can do it! anyone else keep a fitness blog? i'd love to follow and link to yours once i make mine. i'm planning to host it on wordpress off of my domain (which is sadly unused at the moment! **blows off cobwebs and dust**)

i had an awesome workout today.. i ran 4 miles and had a "runners high"... anyone ever get them? it's at the point where you're almost ready to call it quits... then you push a little further, then like approximately 85%-90% up to finish... i think i was at 45-50 minutes at that point, i got a second wind and started smiling like a fool... people must have thought i was crazy ^_^

okay.... 5 minutes till portfolio class. ta ta!

happy holidays

it's super WEIRD to come home, and realize..... oh yeah...... it's going to be christmas soon...isn't it.

the good news is that i'm going to (actually) spend christmas with some family this year! my older sister marie and my mom usually have to work on two of three holidays: thanksgiving, christmas, new years day and most years they are staggered with one family member working thanksgiving, and one on christmas for example. i'm going to see my cousin's 7mo old twins emily and matthew... i'm so excited!

my reviews went well! ^___^ ~ although i need to work on regaining my creativity back and quit the mentality of just getting things done... i am not extremely happy with some of the projects i've done this semester but happily i have all semester next year for portfolio to polish things!

i finally finished a novel [ jodi picoult's change of heart ] that i started in the beginning of this year. -_-; talk about being slammed. i'm starting to read leo tolstoy's anna karenina...watch that take me five years.

blah blah blah!! :) it's good to be back home [in rhode island!]

happy holidays! :D

NO SLEEP TILL BROOKLYN

....... is basically how I feel right now. I never drink energy drinks to get myself to do work before until last night. I'm still feeling it right now. Feeling SUPER jittery right now... 14 days until Degree Project Presentation. I might have to cut down because designing typefaces is a LOT more work than I expected. Well, if I drop off the face of the planet for a month, you know why! ;P

P.S.: I really enjoyed this statement.

Obama's election will significantly reduce anti-Americanism: once again the majority of the world's population will whisper, "Only in America" could this happen. It will make a huge dent in the strong silent prejudice against blacks in many societies, from America to Europe, from Latin America to Asia. And if we can reduce this deep ethnic prejudice, we may have hope for other ethnic divides, like those between Israelis and Palestinians, or Tamils and Sinhalese. If we can finally focus on our common humanity, we have a real opportunity to create a better world.

graduating & credits

Turns out I got 19 credits from studying in Japan. (Sweet!)

Basically, I'm two classes away from graduation!!!

Here I come Welding class! Wouldn't that be a scary thought, me with a blow torch?

Electives I was thinking about were either: Welding (Metals), Jewelry (Small Metals), Poster Design, Advertising II (if they have it), going on the China Graphic Design trip (!!!), or maybe taking up a TA position. If I took the TA position, wow, life would be so easy for me next semester.

YAY!

Now, to return to the nightmare that is 5 classes! My show, &Design's closing show is in a half hour, so... yay on so many different levels!

Call for Handwriting!

Have you ever wondered what your handwriting would be like as a typeface?

Hi guys! I'm currently doing a search for a good handwriting sample from an interested person. My degree project is focusing on the development of a person's personal handwriting and creating a typeface family for them. The twist is that instead of getting your normal bold, italic, condensed, and light weights of the typeface, it will be based on your moods. Tentatively I am thinking about designing your handwriting the way you write normally (normal), when you're pissed off (angry), when you're tired (sleepy).... other moods depend on how much I have time on!

You would be able to use your new typeface for many different uses like personalizing emails or typing up letters (just make sure your friends have your font!).

The catch(es) is that you basically allow me to use your handwriting and said brand new typeface in "promotions" such as posters and interactive work while I present on November 20th, 2008 at my college, MassArt in Boston in a public exhibition and I may or may not need a picture of you. :-) I may also choose to distribute this typeface that I make to people at the exhibition as well.
